About
Welcome to Jack Lee's Tavern Restaurant, a beloved staple in the heart of Cornwall, Ontario. Nestled at 128 Pitt St, this iconic restaurant has been a cherished haunt for locals for generations. With its rich history and dedication to quality, Jack Lee’s Tavern continues to captivate both long-time patrons and newcomers alike.
The atmosphere, described by many as a nostalgic trip down memory lane, is characterized by dim lighting that creates an inviting space, though some might argue that its decor could use an update. Regardless, the ambiance adds to the charm that keeps diners coming back. Despite the occasional criticism of the decor, the warmth and familiarity of the restaurant are palpable, making it feel like home.
One of the standout features of Jack Lee's Tavern is its impressive buffet offering. At an affordable price—around $20 for the dinner buffet—diners can indulge in a plethora of delicious dishes. Many have raved about the hot and flavorful chicken wings, crispy egg rolls, and the star of the show: the sweet and sour pork. The wonton soup is also not to be missed, often earning high praise from customers. It’s no wonder guests frequently leave satisfied and well-fed after a visit.
While the selection for lunch may be limited, the quality remains excellent. Patrons like Noel Larocque appreciate the friendly service and the unbeatable prices, despite some challenges with parking. The attentive waitstaff ensure that your dining experience is smooth, though some guests wish for more frequent check-ins during their meals.
For families looking for a fulfilling dining experience, Amanda Bastedo highlights the option of ordering meals for larger groups. Dishes such as extra lo mein and egg rolls complement the variety found in the buffet, ensuring that every palate is catered to. Additionally, although desserts have received mixed reviews—primarily focused on jello and rice pudding—the hearty main courses more than make up for it.
In summary, my experience at Jack Lee's Tavern Restaurant was delightful. The combination of familiar favorites, a warm atmosphere, and a commitment to quality food truly sets this restaurant apart. Whether you’re a long-time patron or a first-time visitor, it’s evident that Jack Lee's holds a special place in the Cornwall dining scene, and I look forward to my next visit to indulge in their culinary offerings.
“ An absolute iconic restaurant in Cornwall. I've been going since I was a kid and it hasn't changed. I gave the atmosphere a 2 just because it hasn't changed decor but if it changed I'd be sad. The lighting is dim depending where you sit is another reason. The buffet food is delicious! The chicken wings and egg rolls are top notch and my favorite is the sweet and sour pork. They are also known to have a very good wonton soup. The food has always been hot. I usually hit the dinner buffet. More choices and I never leave hungry for 20. Dessert is a fail unless jello and rice pudding is your thing hence the 4 stars there. Service is a three star but the waitress was there quickly to clear plates. They usually only check on you once during the meal in my experience. Overall I like the place and give 5 stars. ”
“ Food is excellent, there isn't a big selection for lunch but what they have is good, wonton soup and egg rolls are amazing also can't complain on price, waitresses are very friendly. Parking can be a pain. ”
“ Staple of Cornwall eateries. The dinner buffet is still one of the best price-to-quality meals I've ever had. For roughly 20, taxes in, you can fill your belly for the rest of the day. I go here once every couple months. I will continue to do so as long as I'm around Cornwall. ”
“ Our family had a wonderful meal and our waitress was excellent. She was Fabulous ”
“ The food was so good and filling and I would order it again. I got the dinner for 6 and some extra egg rolls and extra lo mein and it was perfect. ”
“ This is the last buffet in Cornwall and seams to be doing alright. We as a community should be support this long standing business in the heart of downtown. The food is exactly the same with the quality being pretty great. Fresh chicken wings and rice is what I love about the buffet. They do have won ton soup and some other options as well. Yes the buffet is small but it has what you need. Small eater or big you can eat as much as you want. I can't stress this enough but if the community and outside area starts supporting this location more, they will bring in a larger menu. The decor is somewhat great ! It has been the same sense they opened, before I was even born. we myself and family have come to love it. Never change JACK LEES just add a little more to the desert options. ”
“ This is a love it or hate it type of place. There is no in between. I go for the unlimited chicken wings and I know that I'm getting value for money each time. ”
“ The dining experience was quite pleasant, with a wide array of flavorful dishes. The atmosphere was inviting and comfortable, contributing to an enjoyable meal. Service was prompt and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. Each dish was prepared to your liking , showcasing fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. I would happily recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a satisfying meal. ”
